My first (possibly) broken resolution of 2012
I found this on the Toronto Kendo Club website yesterday.
Possible Practice Cancellations for 2012
As you may all know, the city is in negotiations with some of our civic unions to renew contracts.
As part of this process, there is a possibility that there may be a strike or lockout that will cause the closure of the JJP Centre. The date at which this may occur is January 20th, 2012.
So far, JJP Centre has not renewed our gym permit and everyone should be prepared to look to other dojo’s for practices until further notice.
I hedged my bets on this place being the ideal place for me to learn and practice. Their sessions were perfectly timed for me to show up and not be groggy from the previous night’s partying or being too burnt out from work. Now I’ll have to figure out how to register at University of Toronto and deal with their less than ideal schedule. I’ll get to miss the Monday night lessons because I’m booked for classes on Mondays. Thursdays work out just fine, but Saturdays? 10am? I don’t even have the discipline to wake up on time to eat breakfast before I get to work.
This will need careful planning. Maybe I should just look into a different martial art for the next 4 months till the TKC figures their mess out.
